Billy Cotton is an award-winning American designer driven by a passion to create objects and environments that call attention to the richness of the lived present.
Mr. Cotton was trained in industrial design at Pratt Institute, where pragmatism and technical rigor kept his freewheeling imagination in check. As a student, Mr. Cotton began fabricating bespoke furniture for private clients, which led to the founding of Custom Resource in 2004. His focus is now primarily residential interior projects and custom furniture and lighting commissions.
Mr. Cotton’s creative vision is his tableware line which is available at Bergdorf Goodman and select boutiques throughout the United States and the UK.
Mr. Cotton has received widespread acclaim for his designs, including a 2004 prize in the tabletop category from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and his work has been featured in many publications, including New York Magazine, The New York Times, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Real Simple, and Elle Décor.
