About

Billy Cotton is a young American designer known for bringing wit, intelligence and style to the things we live with and use every day in our homes.

Rejecting the old-fashioned ideas that design or life should be divided between the plain and the fancy or between the inexpensive and the exorbitant, he has pioneered an aesthetic of fresh, sophisticated and original designs that are both effortlessly modern and subtly grounded in design history.

Raised in Vermont, Mr. Cotton spent time in Paris before moving to New York City to study industrial design at Pratt Institute. While still a student, he began fabricating bespoke furniture for private clients, which led to the founding of Custom Resource in 2004.

Mr. Cotton turned his attention to tabletop in 2010, and the Billy Cotton dinnerware collection debuted at Bergdorf Goodman.  His work now spans from large architectural design projects to items for the home and table.

Mr. Cotton has received widespread acclaim for his designs and has been featured in The World of Interiors, New York Magazine, The New York Times, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Real Simple, and Elle Décor, among others.
